Who is invited to CSU Counterparts 2020?
All Professional and Continuing Education (PaCE) staff from the 23 CSU campuses who are interested in learning and professional growth are invited to attend. Remember to get approval from your supervisor before registering!

What kinds of sessions will CSU Counterparts 2020 feature?
There will be six sessions filled with great content from seasoned professionals to help you grow in your job. The sessions will feature topics that focus on the themes of PaCE that require us to imagine, and then craft, different ways forward in the years ahead. Various shared discussions will occur in Counterpart groups, these include:

  • PaCE Leadership Council, Associate Deans’ Roundtable, and Senior Business Officers
  • Business Operations and Finance
  • IT and Distance Learning
  • Marketing and Communications
  • Administrative Support and Leadership Council Assistants
  • Program Development, Program Management and Student Retention
  • International
  • Student Support Services

What is included in the registration fee?
Registration includes receptions, conference session materials, meals as outlined, and conference swag. Attendees are responsible for their own hotel and travel accommodations, and any meals not included in the conference registration fee.

Can I update, cancel, or transfer my registration?
Conference registration fee refunds are available within 180 days of the original transaction. Registrations can be transferred to another employee at your campus until February 18, 2020. Please email info-csucounterparts@lists.calstate.edu​ about any changes to registration. Registration will open in September.

You may cancel your hotel reservation for no charge unit 72 hours before arrival, per the official refund policy of the Sheraton Universal.

Can I register on behalf of my coworkers?
Yes, someone from the campus may register on behalf of someone else, however only one person may be registered per transaction. If someone is registering multiple people from the campus, they will need to do this through multiple transactions. Please be aware that you will need to provide details (name, contact information, job title, etc.) and payment or discount codes for each attendee at the time of registration.

When do I need to book accommodations at Sheraton Universal Hotel?
Hotel reservations are now being accepted, and the special CSU Counterparts conference rate is available until February 18. The conference rate is $219 per night. Please visit the Hotel & Travel page to make your reservation.

Rooms may still be available after February 18 at the standard rate and you should contact the hotel directly in that instance.

What time does CSU Counterparts 2020 begin and end?
CSU Counterparts kicks off on with the Opening General Session on Wednesday, March 11 at 4:3​0 pm, followed directly afterwards by the Welcome Reception. Please plan to join us for some refreshing beverages, tasty appetizers, networking, and fun activities. Then, enjoy your Counterparts and the evening, wherever it may take you: Hollywood, Santa Monica, Universal Studios, and anywhere in between! CSU Counterparts 2020 officially ends on Friday, March 13, 2020 at 1:30 pm with lunch and closing remarks.

What are the check in/check out times at Sheraton Universal Hotel?
The official time of check in at the hotel is 3 p.m. However, if your room is available, you may be able to check in earlier. You may check your luggage with the hotel if you arrive before your room is available. The official check out time is 12 noon. So please plan to check out during the morning hours before breakfast, the first break out session or during the morning break. You can check your luggage with the hotel if you do not have a vehicle there to place it in until your departure.

What should I wear?
Casual attire is recommended. The average morning temperature is 52 degrees & midday temperatures average 77 degrees. On Friday please plan to wear your campus colors and gear.​

What is there to do in the area after the conference?
Visit the Hotel & Travel page for details about Los Angeles things to do like Universal Studios, Hollywood & Highland, and Walt Disney Concert Hall.

Is there a registration option if I can only attend a portion of the conference?
No, the registration includes the entire conference period from March 11-13.

What is the last day to register for CSU Counterparts 2020?
February 18 is the last day to register for the event and book hotel rooms.

Can I attend the conference without booking a hotel room?
No, all conference attendees must book their hotel reservation when they register for the conference and stay at the Sheraton Universal through the CSU Counterparts group.

Can we only send 10 people from our campus?
You can send as many as you want – the first 10 are comped – additional registrations are $297 per person.

Are the session presenters registrations comped?
All attendees need to register for the conference. Campuses with external presenters/partners should register guests using one of their ten (10) complimentary registrations provided.​
