Description

Paint every day! Gain a stronger sense of your work and yourself as an artist through art-making, discussion, readings and community with other students and with professional artists. Engage in contemporary art discourse and elevate your artistic practice. Gain in-depth knowledge of contemporary art criticism and enhance your working knowledge of art history and visual culture.

Who should take this class

Students who have had several iterations of painting classes, up to and/or including Advanced Painting and have a portfolio of work.

Required application materials

  • Letter of application
  • Portfolio. If you have not had college level painting classes, contact course coordinator Clea Felien with portfolio.

Jose Figueroa

Jose Figueroa

Jose Figueroa works in drawing, photography, video, and sculpture. He is best known for his map-like deawings that document (in playful detail) his surroundings. He has had solo exhibitions in Oakland, San Francisco, New York City, and Caracas Venezuela. He has won numerous grants and awards, including the Tam Prize for Excellence in Fine Arts.

Marsha Steinberg

Marsha Steinberg has participated in various art exhibitions in Italy and in the United States, winning numerous awards. She has also exhibited her art in Greece, France, The Netherlands, Canada, and Australia. Her art is part of permanent museum collections in Greece and in Italy. She has been living and working in Florence since 1974.
