Volume 6 | Winter 2021In this issue: The Launchpad for Student Success Features: Groundwork and fieldwork are essentialEvents: Online and themed-month activitiesNotables: The campus that got $10 million to restore salmon habitats
At the CSU, student success and achievements know no boundaries. Just ask NASA astronaut and CSU alum Victor Glover. He’s currently spending six months at the International Space Station and is profiled in our Features. Or ask the interns who scored valuable experience at a cereal and snack foods giant and a county museum. As it has for 60 years, the CSU provides the solid basis on which students contribute mightily to their community, California and the country.
In Case You Missed It, accolades continue to pour in for the CSU. It was declared “College of the Year” by Higher Ed Dive, for its leadership during the pandemic. Also get to know the new chancellor, Dr. Joseph I. Castro, and read what eight people close to the eighth CSU chancellor say about him.
As part of CSU's recognition of Black History Month, hear in Voices what three campuses are doing to assist Black students. Finally, 23 students share how their campus’s responses to the pandemic have prepared them to face the future—be it on Earth or among the stars.
Strap in for liftoff!
