Contribution Highlights
- The first board meeting of the CSULB 49er Foundation, a new auxiliary, was held in October 2011. Providing essential leadership in fundraising and financial management, the foundation was created to enlarge the university’s base of private support. The foundation’s role will become increasingly important as the university approaches the public launch of its first-ever capital campaign and seeks to engage the volunteer-leaders who will see the campaign through to its successful conclusion.
- CSULB received several notable gifts in 2011-2012, including $1 million from the Bernard Osher Foundation for the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, $500,000 from the Coca-Cola Foundation to create a new Coca-Cola First Generation Scholarship program, and $500,000 from the Beavers Charitable Trust for an endowed chair in the College of Engineering.
- CSULB continues to make progress on its first-ever comprehensive campaign. Currently in the quiet phase, the campaign is set to launch publicly in late 2013 and has already raised $146 million — or nearly 60 percent — of its overall $250 million goal.
