Contribution Highlights
- The campus' largest gift for the fiscal year was a combined gift and bequest expectancy totaling $5,000,000 from Professor Kay Takeyama Dilena to establish the Dilena Takeyama Center for the Study of Japan and Japanese Culture. The gift will support a rotating chair for a scholar of Japanese culture, a coordinator for the program, visiting Japanese scholars and student exchange programs. This is the second largest gift from an individual to the campus.
- The Ford Foundation granted $730,000 for the Health Equity Institute for Research, Practice and Policy for support of sexuality research, graduate training, and communications strategies to form advocacy for youth sexual and reproductive health programming and policy on Latino/a perspectives.
- The university received a $500,000 gift from the Richard and Rhoda Goldman Fund to augment the Goldman Chair in Jewish Studies and Social Responsibility.
- A $500,000 bequest expectancy from Miss Alba Margherita Canale was divided in equal portions to the Joseph and Isabella Canale Endowment Fund to provide aesthetic support for the University Library and to the Johanna Ambrogina Canale Endowed Fund for Italian Studies to provide funds to the Italian Program to encourage teaching of the Italian language and to promote Italian culture to the San Francisco State community.
