Contribution Highlights
- CSU Fresno reached 84% of its comprehensive campaign goal by posting $167.9 million in commitments by June 30, 2011. Although budget reductions and the global recession added challenges, progress was significant, and Fresno's alumni and friends continued their support. To date, more than 26,200 donors have made over 108,000 gifts to the campaign.
- Notable highlights throughout the year included: a million dollar bequest gift from an Arts and Humanities alumnus that will enhance linguistics programs; the first scholarship for the nursing doctoral program was received; substantial gifts to support Persian and Cultural Studies are being matched by the Roshan Cultural Heritage Institute; a second chair in Viticulture was pledged by Bronco Wine; and members of the Smittcamp family and the Smittcamp Family Foundation committed to continuing their support of the Smittcamp Family Honors College.
- The Knorr Simulation Laboratory opened to provide high-tech equipment and training for nursing students. The lab dramatically expands nurse-training capability for the Valley region and had been made possible by a generous donation from Alpheda Knorr, a late nurse in the region.
- Estate gifts continued to make major impacts. Eight gifts were added, including four that will support Bulldog athletics. CSU Fresno also made progress on a large anonymous bequest, which will benefit the College of Health and Human Services.
