Contribution Highlights
- A three-year, $420,000 gift by DreamWorks Animation brought the
company’s head of character animation to campus to teach in the
animation/illustration program. The Distinguished Scholar shared
his technical and creative expertise with students and his industry
contacts. The students’ project is to design and animate a 30-
second introduction for 26 new episodes of “Imagination Station,”
a long-running children’s television show that airs on PBS.
- A $2 million planned gift was anonymously received from one of
San José State University’s faculty members. The gift will support
graduate students with seed funding for interdisciplinary studies
research proposals that partner the natural/physical sciences with
the humanities/social sciences.
- Funded by several key San José State donors, the Silicon Valley
Neat Ideas Fair is an annual forum where students conceptualize,
create and showcase their entrepreneurial ideas. Awards are
presented to the most outstanding presentations.
- San José State received funding to support two SJSU Master of
Library and Information Sciences students under the 21st Century
Librarian Program. The program was funded to bring diversity to
libraries by increasing staff diversity and by raising the number of
professional librarians who represent underserved groups. Each
participant receives full tuition, a laptop computer, a monthly
$1,000 stipend, access to professional mentors, and other benefits.
