Contribution Highlights:
- The Tanimura and Antle Family Memorial Library reached its final stage of construction. During 2007-2008, donors contributed more than $1.3 million toward the development of enhanced learning spaces and advanced electronic technology. The library will support active exploration, discovery and synthesis of information.
- The Nathan Cummings Foundation awarded $125,000 to the Reciprocal University for the Arts Project. The interdisciplinary project encourages students, faculty and guest artists to give performances, conduct projects and teach classes in the community while bringing community artists and youngsters on campus to teach university students about their experiences.
- Biologists James Lindholm and Fred Watson were awarded a $10,000 grant from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's California Sea Grant to produce pilot 3D animation videos of fish movements in the Carmel Bay State Marine Conservation Area and Carmel Pinnacles State Marine Reserve. The videos will help people see what fish are doing and how they interact with complex seafloor topography.
