Contribution Highlights:
- Setting a record as the largest donation in university history, the Bob Cole Trust committed $16.4 million to provide scholarships for student musicians. In recognition of this generous donation, the Department of Music has been named the Bob Cole Conservatory of Music.
- Because of his lifelong
love of tennis as a student, graduate and tennis player, alumnus Terry Rhodes ('62) pledged $1.25 million for the construction of a new campus tennis facility and the establishment of an endowed scholarship fund for tennis players. Of the gift, $250,000 will go toward the facility and $1 million for the endowment.
- Bert L. Conrey, the university's first geology faculty member, helped establish the Department of Geological Sciences and developed programs in such areas as marine geology and oceanography. He and his wife, Ethel, left an estate gift of $600,000 toward establishing an endowed faculty chair in geology. The Carl W. Johnson Foundation provided significant additional support to complete the $1 million endowment.
