Contribution Highlights:
- Valene Smith Posey, retired anthropology professor and a longtime foundation board member, made a gift commitment of $3 million to benefit the anthropology program and its Museum of Anthropology. Her gift ranks as the secondlargest
contribution by an individual in the university's history.
- The Bernard Osher Foundation established a $1 million endowment for the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute. The Chico University Foundation also approved a $50,000 bridge grant to sustain the Institute until endowment earnings can support the program in perpetuity. The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute serves more than 500 active community members who are age 60 or older.
- The California Postsecondary Education Commission awarded a fouryear
grant of nearly $1 million to the Mathematics Project to improve mathematics instruction in kindergarten through second grade. The Project will provide substantive professional development for teachers in three rural counties.
