2005-2006 Annual Report on External Support to the CSU

Contribution Highlights:

  • Several gifts from alumna of CSU Stanislaus totaling more than $288,000 were designated for use in the nursing and music programs: the nursing program created an endowment for the purpose of student and faculty enrichment; and the music program purchased concert pianos and other instruments integral to the continued education and training of its students and faculty.
  • The inauguration of Dr. Hamid Shirvani in May 2006 served as a springboard for the establishment of the Presidential Scholarship Program. Dr. Shirvani established this program to attract the state’s brightest students. The initial phase of the program netted in excess of $92,000 to be used for the scholarship recipients.
  • The university garnered in-kind support from the Modesto Bee in excess of $59,000. The newspaper has been a supporter of the university and provides advertising space each year for many of the programs and events that are held at, or in conjunction with, the university.
  • The School of the Arts’ Annual Art Gala raised in excess of $23,000 with a one-evening show featuring world-renowned entertainer Carol Channing, an honorary doctorate recipient of the university.
