The 23 campuses of the California State University have had an
outstanding year in developing private resources to support the
academic mission of the CSU. Despite an uncertain economic
climate, campus development programs exceeded their fundraising
accomplishments of last year and posted the largest amount of
voluntary support in the CSU’s history.
Major successes at several CSU campuses brought total voluntary support to a
record $257.2 million. Thanks in part to a significant increase in foundation
and corporate giving and success in major fundraising campaigns, more than
half of the CSU campuses exceeded their fundraising totals of the previous
year.
The following report provides an overview of the work at each campus in attracting
private, external support to the CSU. It also provides a 10-year giving history for
the CSU as a system and for each individual campus. We have included comparison
data that charts the progress of the CSU as it has enhanced and refined its ability
to generate private support. The strength of our development programs this past
year leaves us well-positioned to support the educational, research, and academic
needs of the people of California and the nation.
