Teacher Education 2005 - Annual Report
Governor’s Teaching Fellowship (GTF) Program
During the 2000-2002 academic years, the Governor’s Teaching Fellowship (GTF)
Program awarded $20,000 each to approximately 1,200 prospective teachers, with the
intent to create a pool of fully credentialed teachers who would teach for a minimum
of four years in low-performing schools. Funding for the GTF program was discontinued
in 2002, and no new fellowships are being awarded. The progress of current GTF Fellows
is being monitored by the California State University and the California Commission on
Teacher Credentialing on a biannual basis.
