Dr. Beverly L. Young is the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Teacher Education and Public School Programs for the CSU system. She works with the campus Presidents, Vice Presidents, and Deans of Education in order to facilitate effective teacher preparation across the 23 campus system. She oversees initiatives responding to major state policies including, for example, adoption of the Common Core State Standards and the Next Generation Science Standards. Dr. Young is a Commissioner on the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing, a Higher Education Representative and member of the Executive Committee for the Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium (SBAC), Chair-Elect of the Board of Directors of WestEd, a member of the Executive Committee of the APLU Commission on the Science and Mathematics Teacher Imperative, and a member of the Board of Directors of the IRIS-West Center for Faculty Engagement. Prior to her work at the Chancellor's Office, Dr. Young was a faculty member in Teacher Education at California State University, Fullerton.
