4061.01  WEAPONS STANDARDS

Each campus Public Safety department will develop procedures for the use of 
firearms consistent with the campus environment.

Standardized on-duty and off-duty weapons carried by Public Safety Officers 
shall be prescribed by the campus Director of Public Safety.  Sidearms shall be 
double action and limited to one of the following calibers:

1.	0.38
2.	9mm

The type of ammunition used in the above chosen weapons shall be 
furnished and approved by Directors of Public Safety.  The ammunition 
authorized for the chosen weapons shall be furnished for on-duty firearms 
only.  In addition, procedures shall be established relative to the following 
matters in the control of on-duty firearms:

1.	Storage of firearms while not in use.
2.	Preventive maintenance of firearms.
3.	Authorized repair and/or modification of firearms.
