4033 DISASTER PLANNING

Reference: Government Code, Title 2, Chapter 7 of Division l.

In response to legislation, disaster planning has been given a high priority,
and the focus of responsibility rests with Public Safety. Each of the
universities has developed a campus-tailored multihazard disaster plan that
includes an Emergency Operations Center and disaster training sessions for
designated managers and workers.

Should a disaster occur during nonbusiness hours or on the weekend, the
Officer on duty will be the one to carry out the task of putting the emergency
and disaster plan into effect. This responsibility has necessitated the
development of special orientation and training programs. Officers are sent
to a special school to prepare them for this added responsibility.
