3726.03 NURSING STUDENT LOAN PROGRAMS---GRADUATE, NO.
948/406, AND UNDERGRADUATE, NO. 948/407

Reference: Annual Award Letter from the United States Department of
Health and Human Services.

The Nursing Student Loan Program was established under the Public Health
Service Act, as amended (Title VII, Parts C and F, and Title VIII, Parts B and D,
as implemented by the Regulation C.F.R., Title 42, Part 57, subparts C, D, G,
and J). This program was established to increase the health manpower
resources of the nation by providing long-term, low-interest loans to full-
time students accepted for enrollment or already enrolled in nursing
education programs. The Program requires as a minimum that each
participating institution contribute to the Nursing Student Loan Program an
amount equal to a percent of the federal capital contribution.

This is a revolving fund program, meaning that the funds received from
students each fiscal year can be loaned to new students until such time as
either the State or the federal government cancels the program and asks for
the return of the funds.
