3101 PARKING

The State University Parking Program provides for State University parking
facilities. It was authorized under the provisions of Section 23752 (now
Section 89701) of the Education Code, July 1, 1966, and is a self-supporting
program that derives most of its revenues from parking fees paid by students,
faculty, staff, and visitors. Additional income is available from interest on
surplus funds invested by the State Treasurer and from fines and forfeitures
monies collected by the counties and transferred to the State Treasurer.
Monies in the fund are continuously available to the Trustees of The
California State University, without regard to fiscal year, for the acquisition,
construction, operation, and maintenance of motor-vehicle parking facilities.
Revenue bonds have been issued to finance construction of additional
parking spaces, and the annual revenue from the Parking Program is also
used for debt service on bonds.
