Student Fees Collected in Advance for Fiscal Year 2006-07 |

California State University has proposed legislation that would allow for maintenance of all student fees in the State University Trust Fund. If approved, this legislation will necessitate changes in the California State University’s policies regarding budgeting and accounting for student fees. Further discussions will be taking place at upcoming meetings of the Financial Officers Association and the Financial Standards Advisory Committee. To facilitate the transition, effective immediately all student fees collected for upcoming 2006-07 class sessions will be recorded as Uncleared Collections (FIRMS Object Code 250002) in General Fund Non-Appropriated Uncleared Collections (FNAT key 109009). These fees should be deposited in the State Treasury system, but will remain un-remitted until the final 2006-07 Budget Act and related legislation is signed. Further communications regarding operations in 2006-07 will be forthcoming as negotiations are completed, decisions are made and policies are set.
