Subject: Oracle Licensing Fees

Information Resources and Technology has successfully negotiated an amendment to the Oracle contract to provide additional software licenses requested by campuses. Financing for the amendment allows campuses to make three annual payments, beginning in fiscal year 1999/00. The attached schedule indicates amounts and timing of payments for each campus participating in the agreement.

The interest rate being charged is one half percent over the California State University Investment Pool Total Return Account rate. As such, campuses may wish to pay their share of the costs up front to avoid interest charges. Campuses providing written authorization, by February 28, 1998, to issue a Plan of Financial Adjustment against their fiscal year 1997/98 appropriation for their software license fees will not incur any interest charges. Subsequent to that date, campuses may prepay all or part of the fees and interest at any time. Prepayment requests should be submitted in writing to Bill Musselman in the Chancellor's Office Accounting Department.
