Subject:Seminar on Accounting for Colleges and Universities
In an effort to provide campus staff with a better understanding of the impact of preparing financial statements for the CSU in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), a seminar has been developed that seeks to assist in preparing campuses for this transition. The difference between this seminar and others on accounting for colleges and universities is that it will address concerns specific to the CSU. The seminar will cover many of the issues encountered during the five campus GAAP audit. The instructors for the seminar will be partners from Coopers & Lybrand. The seminar is scheduled for June 8 and 9, 1995, and will be held near LAX at the Doubletree Hotel in Los Angeles. The cost is $250 per person. I apologize for the short notice but we are trying to fit this seminar in before year end closing consumes everyone's available time. The seminar is designed for staff that will have responsibility for all or any part of the preparation of campus GAAP based financial statements. I would encourage you to send as many staff as is practical. Attached is the seminar agenda and a registration form. A completed registration form with a check made payable to the CSU Foundation should be returned by May 24, 1995. Although we will be able to accommodate attendees after this date, we need to make arrangements for meals and meeting materials as soon as possible. Hotel reservations must be made separately with the Doubletree Hotel by calling (310) 216-5858. Referencing this seminar when registering at the hotel will keep our meeting room costs to a minimum. If you have any questions pertaining to the agenda or registration, please contact Silvia Barajas or me at (310) 951-4610. GAP:SeminarAcctg
