Student Affairs Council
The Student Affairs Council (SAC), comprised of the 23 CSU Vice Presidents of Student Affairs (VPSA), discusses contemporary issue, trends, and best practices related to the services and programs that contribute to student success and the quality of campus life. The Council provides advice on systemwide policies, initiatives, and strategic planning. Working in collaboration with the Academic Council (Provosts and Vice President for Academic Affairs), the Student Affairs Council members forge partnerships in support of student learning, development, and academic achievement. Current standing committees address such areas as academic technology, admissions & enrollment management, services to students with disabilities, auxiliary organizations, budget, early start, financial aid, Greek affairs, health & counseling services and on-campus student housing. Additionally, the Alcohol Policy Implementation Steering Committee (APISC) was appointed in 2000 by the Chancellor to review the CSU's alcohol policies and prevention programs to address campus needs.
The Student Affairs Council provides consultation, input and best practices for the implementation of systemwide academic affairs initiatives; therefore cultivating academic and personal success, encouraging and promoting the welfare of all students, and capitalizing on a diverse student population to develop students' leadership skills, collegiality, civic responsibility, and engaged citizenship in an increasingly diverse democratic society.
