Student Success Stories
CSU Channel Islands '12
Advocate, speaker and educator
For Jevon Wilkes, college was not in the foresight of his future, having grown up in a group home within the Department of Children and Family Services in East Los Angeles. Not forgetting where he has been, Jevon changed his perspective through strong mentorship and EOP. Currently, he is an advocate, speaker, and educator to underserved, disadvantaged students in Ventura, Los Angeles and Sacramento counties. Having landed on the streets at 14, Jevon understands the youth he currently serves and he carries a message of hope to these students: "EOP not only has staff and faculty that have shown support but we as EOP students show each other support. This was my first family, my first group at Channel Islands."
