More Grants for Upward Bound

October 18, 2012

The U.S. Department of Education recently awarded nearly $2 million to help strengthen the math and science skills of low-income and first-generation students attending CSU campuses at Chico, Long Beach, Los Angeles, Pomona, and Sonoma.

The grants come from more than $30.8 million dedicated by the federal government for the Upward Bound Math-Science program, which aims to help students recognize and develop their potential to excel in math and science, and pursue postsecondary degrees and careers in these fields.

Sonoma State also received another $250,000 for a new project—one of the 40 grants added to the first slate of 780 Upward Bound awards announced in May of this year.
