April 22, 2013 – Fight the Power Hog!

California State University student power is leading the way on saving power. PowerSave Green Campus Programs at eight CSU campuses are dedicated to student-driven energy efficiency education. The student-led activities include K-12 assemblies, the creation of environmental villain and hero mascots, campus festivals and energy audits.

The Way Forward The Living Lab

Students, faculty, staff, entrepreneurs and activists gathered at CSU Chico to seek a sustainable path forward. This Way to Sustainability is an enormous undertaking – a student-run conference that hosts more than 100 speakers and 1,400 participants.

The CSU is funding grants to encourage innovative thinking in the merging of academics and facilities management. The "Campus as a Living Lab" Grant Program combines the CSU's principle of sustainability with "hands-on" applied learning.

The Best Practice The Sustainable Otter

Eight CSU programs and projects have been selected for Higher Education Energy Efficiency and Sustainability Best Practice Awards – highlighting achievement, showcasing sustainable models and facilitating the transfer of best practices.

CSU Monterey Bay's mascot Monte Rey cares about clean waterways. Students followed their beloved mascot's lead in a Return of the Natives Restoration and Education Project. This is one of many activities observing Earth Week at CSUMB.

To do its part, CSU is dedicated to being a wise steward of scarce resources and in helping ensure California's continued ecological and economic viability.
