Sharp Health Care has donated $1 million to San Diego State University's nursing school.

The donation also gave the corporation the right to name a clinical training facility. Now known as the Sharp HealthCare Human Patient Simulation Center, the facility will include an emergency room and obstetrics ward. The gift also includes 78 computerized mannequins designed to simulate symptoms of diseases and afflictions, such as heart attacks.

Sharp previously donated more than $800,000 toward expanding SDSU's nursing program to address nursing shortages. The California State University system trains an estimated 80 percent of the state's nurses.
