They delivered about 7,000 letters to the governor and state lawmakers, protesting the 10% fee increase.
The fees cover about 28% of a student's education costs, with the rest coming from the state's general fund. The letters ask the governor and lawmakers to increase the state's portion of the costs.
Cal Poly student, Oscar Marquez, says, "We are in California, where it's one of the largest of the states, one of the largest economies in the world, so there's plenty of money in the state. There's um, there's, there's a bunch of subsidies that are done to corporations, corporations in which a lot of members have benefited from the CSU System."
University officials say the state colleges have the lowest student fees compared to other institutions.
The California Faculty Association passed a resolution in February opposing the student fee increase.
