SJSU students vote on adding `California State University' moniker
Mercury News 3/21/07
Voting closes tomorrow at 8 p.m. and the results are expected Friday, university spokeswoman Pat Harris said.
The student vote is not the final step for the name. If it passes, the next step would be to seek approval from the CSU board of trustees and Chancellor Charles Reed.
The naming effort is being spearheaded by Mike Harold, a 2003 marketing graduate. He said he believes creating the alternate name would lead to more international recognition for the college.
Harold pushed petitions around campus, garnering enough votes to put the idea before students in the two-day vote.
