CSUB, BC to join in yearlong self-study
Bakersfield Californian 1/30/07
Cal State Bakersfield and Bakersfield College are participating in the Foundations of Excellence project, a national study.
The project's goal is to discover a model for the first-year college experience, from admissions to orientation to campus activities.
By collaborating with Bakersfield College, CSUB hopes to create a collaborative model that other CSU campuses with nearby community colleges could follow.
CSUB officials want students to give their views about campus life through a public service announcement competition.
Entries must be conceived and produced by CSUB students, either as individuals or working in a group.
Entries must feature students' original work and be suitable for television. They may cover the following areas:
* Student life
* In-class interaction with professor(s) and fellow students
* Student advising
* Transition from high school to college or junior college to a four-year university
Entry forms are available in the Admissions and Records or University Advancement offices.
They must be submitted or postmarked by April 16. The winning entry will be chosen at Celebrate CSUB Day, a university open house, on April 28.
The winner will receive a $300 voucher to the campus bookstore.
