Fall applications up at CSUS and UC Davis

More than 20,200 students applied to California State University, Sacramento -- a 9 percent increase over fall 2006. The number of freshman and transfer applicants both increased.
More than 42,300 students applied to the University of California, Davis -- a 6 percent increase over fall 2006. Freshman applicants increased while transfer applicants dropped slightly.
For fall 2007, UC Davis is aiming to enroll about 4,800 freshmen directly from high school -- down from this year's record-size class of 5,500 -- and about 1,800 transfer students.
CSUS is hoping to increase its numbers from fall 2006, when 2,659 first-time freshmen and 3,433 transfer students enrolled.
