Daily Breeze 4/27/07
The CSU Board of Trustees will interview the finalists May 14, and plan to name the new president later that week.
"Each of the four candidates has excellent academic credentials and the leadership qualities needed to head a diverse, student-focused campus like CSU Dominguez Hills," said CSU Trustee Debra Farar, who chaired the presidential search committee.
"All of the finalists have the breadth of experience and background that is needed to guide the continued growth and development of the campus," she added in a statement.
The four finalists will spend a day on campus May 7-10 to meet faculty, students, staff, alumni and community members. An open forum with each finalist will be held during those days from 2:30 to 3:45 p.m. in Claudia Hampton Hall, D165.
The four finalists are:
• Mildred Garcia, who since 2001 has been president of Berkeley College of New York and New Jersey. She will visit campus May 7.
• James A. Anderson, who since 2005 has been vice president for student success and vice provost for institutional assessment and diversity, University of Albany -- State University of New York. He will visit May 8.
• Willie J. Hagan, who since 1996 has been vice president for administration and finance and chief financial officer at California State University, Fullerton. He will visit May 9.
• Benjamin F. Quillian Jr., who since 2001 has been senior vice president for business and operations and chief financial officer at the American Council on Education, a higher education advocacy group. He will visit May 10.
The new president would succeed interim President Boice Bowman and start work this summer.
The previous president, James Lyons Sr., retired.
