Delay sought in university rampage threat case

Ventura Star 4/27/07

A prosecutor will ask a Ventura County Superior Court judge today to continue the case against an 18-year-old freshman at CSU Channel Islands who is accused of posting a threat about going on a rampage.

Senior Deputy District Attorney Howard Wise said Thursday that the district attorney wants a delay of about 30 days to review the facts to determine whether to file criminal charges against Alisha Salazar.

On April 19, Salazar was arrested on campus after being accused of posting a threat on Facebook.com about going on a shooting rampage. Salazar is facing a felony charge of making criminal threats, according to the Ventura County Sheriff's Department. She is an English major, according to CSUCI officials. Her hometown is listed as Rancho Santa Fe, north of San Diego. Salazar is free on a $20,000 bail.
