Letters: The CSUS chief's vision

Sacramento Bee 4/21/07

Re "Faculty vote begins on CSUS chief," April 17: While faculty members express their views on Sacramento State President Alexander Gonzalez, I would like to assure the public, faculty and students that the California State University Board of Trustees fully supports the president and believes his strong leadership is what is needed at the campus. There have been many positive developments during Gonzalez's tenure at the campus, and the 2010 initiative that sets the groundwork for the future of the campus will take it to the next level.

The president's vision for Sacramento State has set it on a course to become a destination campus that embraces both student and academic life. This requires contributions from both internal and external sources, alumni, business and community leaders to realize truly the potential of a university. It also takes a strong leader who can implement this vision, make the tough decisions and raise the profile of a campus to its full potential. Sacramento State has such a leader in Gonzalez.
