Faculty vote on CSU labor pact will begin April 30

North County Times 4/12/07

Professors at Cal State San Marcos and its 22 sister campuses will vote the week of April 30 on a tentative labor agreement forged last week with the administration of the Cal State system.

Before the new agreement was reached, the faculty labor union had been threatening to go on two-day strikes this month and next. The four-year pact includes 20.7 percent guaranteed raises and a package of additional 2 percent to 4 percent pay hikes for many faculty members.

Union officials said Wednesday that results from the ratification vote will be announced May 4. They also said it is highly likely that professors will approve the contract.

If approved by professors, the agreement will be forwarded to Cal State trustees for final adoption.
