The Times-Standard 3-5-04 HSU's Isaac Carter wins Affirmative Action Award |

ARCATA -- Humboldt State University's associate director of the Housing and Dining Department, Isaac Carter, is being recognized for promoting diversity on campus. Carter has won the Diversity and Affirmative Action Award presented by the Western Association of College and University Housing Officers. Since arriving at HSU in 1999, Carter has been involved in a number of outreach initiatives. He has been active in the Equal Opportunity Program, the Learning Assistance Center and the MultiCultural Center. Carter is the co-creator of the Black Faculty and Staff Association, the REAL MEN group and the Week of Dialogue on Race seminar. He also teaches a Hip Hop and Black Experience course. "Issac has been unyielding with his passion and dedication to make a difference and to lead individuals and our campus to a better place," wrote HSU Housing Director John Capaccio in his nomination letter. Carter will receive the Affirmative Action Award at the Western Association
of College and University Officers annual conference in San Francisco, which
will be held March 21 to March 24.
