Los Angeles Daily News 3-4-04 Letters to the Editor: Teacher education |

Re "CSU Teacher programs" (Your Opinions, March 3): As usual, the information offered about how great teacher training programs are at CSU and elsewhere comes from those who have a vested interest in keeping the programs going as they are or becoming more expensive and cumbersome. Secretary of Education Richard Riordan could do a service to parents, taxpayers and students by surveying teachers who have been through those programs, getting their frank responses as to how useful and/or abusive those programs really are, and making the results very public. The teacher training program I was in, the Los Angeles Unified District Intern Program, stopped surveying interns after receiving very negative results on the first and only survey we were given.
