Press-Enterprise 1-20-04 UCR forums to examine impact of state budget |

UC Riverside Chancellor France Córdova will lead forums today and Wednesday on the impact of state budget cuts on the university. The aim is to gather students, faculty and staff to review UCR's goals and plans with the budget challenges in mind, Córdova said. "In spite of the uncertainty, we need to venture forth and get our business done." Córdova said of the forums. The faculty forum will be held at 2 p.m. today in UCR's International
Lounge. Wednesday's forums include one geared for staff at noon in Terrace
Rooms A and B, and a student forum at 4 p.m. in Terrace Room A.In his
budget proposal, Gov. Schwarzenegger has called for a 10 percent increase
in UC tuition this year. Cuts in programs, enrollment and financial aid
also are on the table. The Legislature must approve the state budget with
