Hundreds of high school students to get tested at CSU

Competition for $132,000 in President's Scholarships will be held at Chico State University this weekend and more than 400 high school students, some from as far away as Virginia, are expected to attend.

This is the highest number of students competing since the competition began in 1995.

High school seniors who have applied and been accepted to the university and have a 3.7 or above high school GPA or a 3.5 GPA and a 1200 total SAT 1 or a 27 composite ACT score are eligible.

Students and their parents, which will raise the number attending to more than 800, will have a continental breakfast in Bell Memorial Union. Then students will take three exams testing critical thinking, science and reasoning, and communication skills, while their parents are given student-guided tours of the campus.

President Paul J. Zingg will host a reception for parents and students at 2 p.m. in Bell Memorial Union, where they can meet the deans of colleges and department chairs.
