Modesto Bee 2-20-04 Letters to the Editor: Stanislaus State in question |
|
An act is not proper simply because it is permissible, nor is it ethical just because it is legal. California State University, Stanislaus, has recently been in the news for all the wrong reasons. The madness of the Peterson survey debacle and the most recent article, "Stan State uses loophole to expand men's teams" (Feb. 13, Page A-1) makes it difficult for us to support a university whose ethics, morals and accountability are at question. We have lived in Stanislaus County most of our lives. We would like to continue to support our state university. But as we consider schools for our graduate work, we can't help but question whether the ethical standards of some administrators and professors at CSUS are suitable for an institute of higher learning. We have been forced to consider other institutions of higher learning that uphold a much higher standard of moral beliefs. ARTURO and LYNSEY LOMELI Modesto |
