|
| Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger on Friday appointed two educators and three business people to the governing board of the California State Teachers' Retirement System. The appointments finally give the nation's third-largest public pension fund its full complement of trustees. Since the start of the year, the board has been working with seven of 12 members. The new trustees are: * Mark Battey of Half Moon Bay, managing director of Miramar Capitol, a financial and management consulting firm. He previously served as senior policy adviser to state Controller Steve Westly. * James Gray of Indian Wells, chairman of the Desert Community College board of trustees. The longtime banker recently served as chairman of Generation Trust Bank. He also has been a California State University trustee. * Gloria Hom of Palo Alto, chairwoman emeritus of the economics department at West Valley Mission College, where she was a faculty member for more than 30 years. She also has served on the California State Board of Education and California State University board of trustees. * Miguel Pulido, who is serving his third term as mayor of Santa Ana. He is part owner of Ace Muffler, a family-owned business. * Kathleen Smalley of Los Angeles, managing director of Greenbrier Associates, a real estate financial services firm. She has been a lecturer at the law schools at Harvard and Stanford universities. |
