CSUDH receives science funding

The physics department at California State University, Dominguez Hills has been awarded a $295,000 grant from the National Science Foundation to fund particle physics research.

The three-year grant will help the university explore mysteries of the subatomic world. It helps position the university among better-known research institutes. The Carson campus is working to increase its reputation for advanced research in science and biomedicine.

Professors and students at Dominguez Hills have been involved in the discovery that neutrinos, one of the most mysterious subatomic particles known, have mass. Discover magazine cited the news as the second most important science story of 2002.
