Family offers $10,000 for conviction in son's killing

By Christine Vovakes

A Sacramento family is offering a reward in the killing of Christopher Hermann, a 22-year-old college student found shot to death outside his Chico residence the night of Dec. 5.

Rick Herrmann, the victim's father, said the family is offering a $10,000 reward for the arrest and conviction of the person or persons who shot his son in the head.

Christopher Herrmann, a junior majoring in business at California State University, Chico, attended Sacred Heart Elementary School in Sacramento and graduated from Christian Brothers High School in 1999, his father said.

According to Chico police, the investigation is continuing but no arrests have been made. The reward is being announced today during a press conference at the police station.

The family hopes Chico-area billboards and fliers advertising the reward will bring someone forward with information about the killing, Rick Herrmann said.

He said a supportive family has helped deal with the indescribable trauma of his son's death.

"It's been tough," he said. "They don't make words to describe this feeling."
