RIVERSIDE, Calif. (AP) - UC Riverside director of athletics Stan Morrison has withdrawn as a candidate for the head coaching job for the men's basketball team at Cal State Fullerton.

Morrison has been the director of athletics at UC Riverside since August 1999. Previously, he was the head coach at Southern California, Pacific and San Jose State and the director of athletics at UC Santa Barbara.

Morrison informed Fullerton athletics director Brian Quinn of his decision Wednesday.

"I have made the decision to continue building what we have started here at UC Riverside," the 63-year-old Morrison said. "I am grateful to Brian for his consideration, but feel Riverside is the best place for me."
