UC Riverside has named longtime professor William Jury as interim executive vice chancellor and provost effective July 1. Jury, who has been at UCR since 1974, will temporarily replace David Warren in the campus' second-highest post. Warren announced in March that he would step down from the position after nine years. "I consider this a great honor," Jury said in a statement. "I look forward to working with Chancellor (France) Cordova and the faculty and staff during at this exciting time of growth and opportunity at UC Riverside." UCR will search for a permanent replacement for Warren this summer, said spokeswoman Kathleen Peach. Jury has held other administrative posts at UCR, including interim director of the graduate program in environmental toxicology, chairman of the soil and environmental sciences department and faculty chairman of the search committee that selected Cordova as new chancellor. The executive vice chancellor and provost serves as acting chancellor in Cordova's absence and manages daily operations of the campus. |
