| SACRAMENTO (AP) - Gov. Gray Davis on Monday appointed Alice Huffman, president of the California State Conference of the NAACP, to California State University's governing board. The appointment of Huffman as a trustee must be confirmed by the state Senate. Trustees do no receive a salary. Huffman, 67, of Sacramento, also serves as a member the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People's national board of directors. As the NAACP's state president, she oversees 67 local branches and more than 30 college and youth branches. Huffman is owner and chief executive officer of A.C. Public Affairs, a strategic and political consulting firm. She also served as associate executive director of politics for the California Teachers Association.
