| State budget cuts are forcing San Francisco State University to get tough with spring semester enrollment. University officials announced Friday they won't accept spring applications from transfer students who have amassed fewer than 56 college credit units at other colleges or universities. "It is unfortunate that the constraints of the state budget have put San Francisco State in this difficult situation," said Jo Volkert, associate vice president for enrollment planning and management. Applications for first-time freshmen and transfer students with 56 or more units will be accepted until at least Sept. 15, officials said. The exact closing date for spring applications will be announced later this month. Nov. 15 is the deadline for graduate school applications. Volkert encouraged students who are unable to apply for the spring semester
to apply for the fall term. SFSU will begin accepting fall applications
on Oct. 1.
