CSU: Where Stars are Born

The CSU has extensive degree programs in the media, culture and design industries that include writing, dance, music, film, video, arts education, theatre, visual arts, design, broadcast arts and new technology.

CSU: Where Stars are BornLos Angeles is one of the world’s largest entertainment centers, and the CSU offers an in-depth education that gives students the tools they need to succeed in the television, music, radio and film community. CSU campuses have established partnerships with media powerhouses that offer students opportunities and career paths in highly sought-after industries. For example, Cal State Northridge’s Entertainment Industry Institute maintains ongoing contact with some 50 companies in the field and draws on the support and expertise of an advisory council comprised of prominent members of the entertainment industry. It also maintains a faculty advisor network of professors with scholarly and professional interests related to the entertainment industry.

CSU: Where Stars are BornCSU campuses maintain industrial-style art and production studios, museums and exhibition spaces, state-of-the art computer labs, and intricately designed performing art centers, among other facilities. Additionally, programs such as Fresno State’s Theatre for Young Audiences allow students to produce and perform plays every spring for thousands of schoolchildren from elementary and middle schools throughout the San Joaquin Valley.

With the development of new technology, the design industry has grown rapidly and significantly. The CSU takes pride in creating professionals with a niche in all facets of the trade, including apparel, industrial, art, product, interior, Web and graphic design. In fact, there are more students CSU: Where Stars are Bornstudying art and design at California State University, Long Beach than at any other public university in the nation. The Design Department at CSULB is recognized as one of the top design schools in the country, with practical-hands on programs offered in Interior Architectural Design and Industrial Design.
