State L.A.'s Web Site Named as 'Site of the Week'
Cal State L.A.’s Web site
has been selected as the “Site of the Week” for the week
beginning Monday, November 3, 2003, by EDUCAUSE—a nonprofit association
whose mission is to advance higher education by promoting the intelligent
use of information technology. A link to Cal State L.A.’s home
page appears on the front page of the EDUCAUSE
site.
The Cal State L.A. Web site is featured on the EDUCAUSE site during
its annual conference, set for this week, November 4-7, in Anaheim,
CA. In a recognition letter, EDUCAUSE cited Cal State L.A.’s Web
page as being “well-designed, visually appealing, and easy to
use.” It stated: “We acknowledge the breadth of our members
by making selections that reflect a ‘best effort’ when viewed
within the context of the likely resources available to their institution.”
Peter Quan, vice president of Information Technology Services (ITS),
comments, “It’s an honor to have our campus Web site highlighted
by EDUCAUSE and among peers in the field.” Quan continues, “Vice
President Tony Ross and I would like to thank the Web Services Committee,
the ITS Web Team, each one of the division Web teams, and those who
participated in the pilot and evaluation groups. Special thanks go to
Chris Kaufman and his team for their hard work the last few months.”
Launched on June 9, the newly redesigned CSULA Web site already had
over one million hits during the first four months of its release. Chris
Kaufman, manager of ITS user services, notes, “The new page represents
a substantially new look for the University’s Web pages, providing
a user-friendly environment and a consistent public image reflecting
Cal State L.A.’s mission and values.”
Quan adds, “This recognition will not only give us a reason to
celebrate, but also further challenge us to do even better in order
to serve the needs of the campus.”
