Cal State Hayward Students Are Contestants in "Miss America", "Mr. America" Pageants Taking in September

Cal State Hayward junior Jennifer Glover, who was crowned “Miss California” in July, will be competing as the state’s representative in the nationally-televised Miss America Pageant in Atlantic City, NJ on Sept. 21.

However, the 22-year old Glover, a mass communications major, isn’t the only CSUH student competing in a national pageant during September.

Cal State Hayward junior Jason Wright will compete in the Mr. America Pageant on Sept. 7 in Atlanta, GA. Wright, 24, was crowned “Mr. California” earlier in the summer. He is majoring in management and marketing.

If she is crowned “Miss America”, Glover will win $50,000 in college scholarships and would travel throughout the country during the coming year. Her career goal is to be a broadcast entertainment reporter.

“It’s exciting that someone who is born in and raised in this area will go on to the Miss America pageant,” Glover said. “I hope I make everyone proud.”

Wright, if proclaimed “Mr. America”, will win $30,000 and a new car. In addition to his CSUH studies, Wright is a part-time model.

Glover is a resident of Castro Valley while Wright resides in Fremont.
