Cal State Fullerton's Library Web Site Hailed as Friendly
to Students and Researchers
Streaming video and more await Web surfers who visit Cal State Fullerton's
Pollak Library site, which has won rave reviews from a member of the online
community.
In naming the Pollak Library's Web site its November Site of the Month,
LibrarySpot.com declared: "The team at Pollak Library in Fullerton,
Calif., doesn't sit around. Instead, they've been putting together a powerful
site to aid university students and the Internet academic."
Published by StartSpot Mediaworks Inc. in the Northwestern University/Evanston
Research Park, LibrarySpot.com is a virtual library resource center created
to bring the best library and reference sites together with insightful
editorial in a user-friendly site.
Richard C. Pollard, chief university librarian for the Pollak Library,
said of the honor: "The kudos associated with this award must be
attributed to the many librarians and staff members who have and continue
to contribute to our site. We designed it to be multifaceted and continually
evolving - built and maintained with the expectation that it is a necessary
and useful portal for students, faculty and others seeking information."
The Web site features a virtual tour with animation and MTV-like production
values to acquaint visitors with the facilities and services available
on each floor of the library. The presentation is one of only a handful
of full-motion library tours available on university Web sites nationwide.
